Memorial Day in New York

Went to some parks today, Memorial Day, with my family. One was Croton Gorge Park in Croton-on-Hudson, where you can go to see a huge dam and the accompanying massive cascade of water down the side. You can even walk up a trail to the bridge and look down on the water! It's pretty neat... I was worn out by the end of the day because it was so hot though.

Pic taken with my blackberry curve... pretty good, huh? I didn't expect the quality to turn out so nice.

Bill Cunningham New York

BIll Cunningham is the main fashion photographer for the New York Times. Basically he's a legend. Forget the Sartorialist, I choose Bill over Scott, no questions asked. Although, I wouldn't be insulted if Scott Schuman did ask for my photo and it popped up on his blog. BUT-- I would be even less insulted if Bill Cunningham asked for my photo and it showed up in the infamous style section of the New York freaking Times. For either of these things to happen, I would probably need to walk around NYC a whole lot more...

The point I meant to make is that there's a documentary about Cunningham's eccentric life is coming out today! As with anything worthwhile, it's limited release, but I am very interested in watching it, considering I love documentaries and I love weird people so this is right up my alley.

You can watch the trailer and you can also find out where the film is playing + other interesting info about the film here! Yo welcome.

Mardi Gras 2011: Success

Friend Sydnie, gettin' her groove on.

My gurl Duyen brought two giant jugs of pre-mixed drink + cups + straws in her purse and walked around every day of mardi gras with it so she wouldn't have to buy drinks. You can kind of see the Dole jug beneath her arm... I already can't wait for MG 2012!

Maia Flore, Different Directions

Maia Flore is a French photographer that has some cool photos. There is a particularly cool collection titled "Sleep Elevations" of women suspended in the air whilst sleeping by some pretty fantastical things. All of her work is magically calming photography tinted with truth.

Music, not Fashion

VOODOO this weekend was amazing, Deadmau5 blew my mind and MGMT underwhelmed me, as expected. I did this for Jazzfest too and claimed I was going to grow some balls and ask people for pictures if they were wearing neat clothes, but I chickened out again and got too nervous to talk to strangers. So instead I just took cool pics of my surroundings without the flash on (the easiest way for me to pretend I'm an artsy photographer).

GIANT Voodoo sign

Cool screen that you could stand behind and make cool colors... not sure how that works

deadmau5 @ le plur stage

Doesn't it look like he's morphing matter with his hands? Wild.

Remember that thing that happened in Haiti?

Its kind of funny how horrible things happen and people forget about them after a few months because the media has other things to worry about (like that new movie about Facebook...or how LIndsay Lohan is going to jail again). Props to my sister and her hubby for keeping the awareness alive! Harry Fellows, photographer extraordinaire has entered photos for a contest to bring people's attention back to how devastating a state Haiti is still in. Please go take a look and vote his photos 5 stars :)

here's a little preview of his photos...go see the rest here.

Leica M7 Edition Hermès

Don't get me wrong, I'm no photography connoisseur by any means... I still can't bring myself to dish $50 on a Diana lomography camera, and even then, I don't think I'd know how to put the film in properly. However, get me on the topic of fashion brands? See the word "Hermès" and one should immediately know that whatever it is in reference to is high quality. And when I say high quality, I mean like you're-on-the-wait-list-for-10-yrs-high-quality.

So, not surprised that this Hermès edition Leica camera is not only absurdly expensive, but there's also only 200 of these babies for sale. Yes, in the whole world. I mean, I guess it's a high quality camera, but I'm distracted by the high quality leather ON the camera. FABULOUS.

Pro Camera on yo Phone

You know, when I first saw this product, it almost gave me yet another reason to bitterly hate the iphone-- until I found out it's for blackberries too!

Fish, macro and wide angle camera lenses are now available for your iphone, blackberry, or other smartphone that has a camera! It just attaches with a smart little magnetic ring that you can remove at your leisure. I think it's really cool, especially since I can barely bring myself to drag a purse around, let alone a giant, thousand dollar camera. Now I can make my grainy, flat, badly lit blackberry pics slightly more bearable to look at.

Coffee Time with my 24-105mm Lens

This awesome mug that looks like a 24-105mm lens is back-ordered right now, probably because it's so cool. It's so realistic, it comes with a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings, and an auto-focus switch that you can switch back and forth! BUT YOU PUT YOUR SCALDING HOT COFFEE (and other drinkable liquids) IN IT AND ITS OKAY!

Buy it HERE.
