festivaling

Music festival season approaches rapidly as the major players in the indie music fest scene release their line-ups. I'm coming to think indie music is dead --or is being slowly suffocated as each day goes by and I realize that the "indie music scene" is really just a handful of bands at the forefront that "indie music hipsters" claim aren't mainstream and are "real music"...don't get me wrong, I love me some Vampire Weekend and MGMT, but it pains me to listen to it when everyone around me is pretentiously listening to it as if everyone else in the world isn't pretentiously listening to it. That's not to say that indie music doesn't exist, but obviously you don't know about it because it's actually indie, aka unsigned and experimental.

But I digress. My point is that music festival season is coming up and I present to you the line-ups available thus far so you can compare and contrast (although from what I can tell, they're all basically the same).

A fave of west-coasters:

Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
Lollapolooza
Sasquatch Festival

Rothbury is cancelled this year but is on board for 2011, so stop crying.

And this is not an indie music fest but New Orleans Jazzfest is always a fave of mine with local Jazz favorites, great cajun food, and also big name alternative/rock music. Great mix of music and a break from the Passion Pit overload right now.

Yay for spring! Get your dancing shoes on, foolz.

love yall
